Winter track wrap: Coatesville girls, boys excel in the Big Apple

NEW YORK – Coatesville’s 4×200 girls relay team of Porsha Miles, Arianna Eberly, Patty Rokins and Sammie Miller finished first in 1:42.34 to trigger an impressive effort by the Red Raiders at the Molloy Stanner Games at the New York City Armory Saturday.
The 1:42.34 clocking by the Red Raiders quartet ranks first in the state of Pennsylvania and is sixth nationally. Miles (40.51) and Eberly (40.53) were also the top two qualifiers in the 300 meter run, but sat out the finals to focus on the relay.
Coatesville also got a third- and fourth-place finish from Darby Morgan (35-7) and Liv Ellzy (35-1.75) in the girls shot put.
In the boys 4×200 at the Armory, Coatesville’s Camari Stocker, Eric Kirk, LeBron Bessick and Artie Burns placed third in 1:31.82 –  the fourth best time recorded in PA this season.
Also for the Red Raiders, Kirk took third (6.59) and Stocker (6.66) was fifth in the boys varsity 55 meter dash, Naheem Moore finished third in the boys triple jump (42-9.75) and Donovan Hart captured fifth place in the high jump (6-0).
In the freshman boys sprint medley relay, Coatesville’s David Kelly, Ashon Wesley, Aaron Wesley and Jesus Hernandez were fourth in 4:04.40.The freshman 55-meter dash saw Ashon Wesley place second (7.04) and Bessick fifth (7.14).
Bears High School Invitational (Sunday at Ursinus College)
The Kennett girls had a strong showing at the multi-school meet in Collegeville, placing 13th in the 25-team field behind by Meredith Krieger’s second-place finish in the pole vault (10-0) and the Blue Demons’ 4×400 relay team taking the bronze medal in 4:16.85. Also for Kennett, Sofie Lusvardi placed fourth in the 800 (2:28.05).
Bishop Shanahan also competed at the meet, placing 16th behind Ava Ceulers’ fourth in long jump (15-9.5). Rounding out the Ches-Mont girls’ effort at Ursinus was Unionville, which finished in a tie for 21st place and didn’t have any top five individual performances.
In the boys portion of the competition, Kennett’s Pierce Genereuz earned a gold medal in the pole vault (14-0.25) and teammate Davis Piercey placed fourth in the 800 (2:03.30). The other top Ches-Mont boys performances came from Unionville’s Erik Lapszynski in the long jump (5th, 19-6) and the Indians’ ‘A” 4×200 relay (5th, 1:37.69).
Kingsway (NJ) earned both the girls and boys team titles at Ursinus.
DVGTCA Meet #4 (Friday at Lehigh University)
The top Ches-Mont performers at the multi-school meet included Downingtown West teammates Reagan Flannery (3rd, one mile run, 5:23.14) and Grace Mucha (5th, 800, 2:32.31) and Bishop Shanahan’s Anna Ebersole (3rd, high jump, 5-1).
Golden Bear Invitational (Saturday at Kutztown University)
Jeffrey Billig of Avon Grove placed second in the 55 dash (6.68) and teammate Britton Boiardi was fifth in high jump (6-2) in the boys portion of the meet. The Avon Grove girls were led by Alana Boiardi’s second in the high jump (5-4) and the Red Devils fifth place 4×200 relay (1:57.22).
TFCAGP Meet #5 (Saturday at Lehigh University)
The Bishop Shanahan boys had the lone top 5 finish from the Ches-Mont participants, the Eagles’ 4×800 relay group placing third (8:44.44) in the Division II bracket.
