Shanahan doomed by cold shooting in district final loss

(1) Penncrest 50, (2) Bishop Shanahan 25 – The Ches-Mont League champion Eagles (22-5) were doomed by poor shooting in the District 1-5A championship Saturday afternoon at Temple University’s Liacouras Center.

Shanahan misfired a 20 percent (8-40) clip from the field including a horrendous 5 percent effort (1-20) from the arc.

Kevin Dodds posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to counter Tyler Norwood’s game-high 27 points for the Lions – the defending District champions. Norwood alone had three more field goals (11-8) than the entire Shanahan squad.

Tom Ford added 8 points for Shanahan, which forged a 14-14 tie midway through the second quarter but was unable to get over the hump, falling behind 20-14 at the break and 32-18 heading into the fourth quarter.
