Penn Relays: Henderson, Coatesville headline impressive Ches-Mont showing

PHILADELPHIA – West Chester Henderson’s 4×400 relay team of Kavond Jones, Myles Cooper, Josh Richard and Gabe Scholl clocked in a 3:25.94 to capture the Suburban Ches-Mont race at the Penn Relays Saturday at Franklin Field.

Also in the 4×400 final, Downingtown East’s Mitchell Gill, Tom Leadbeater, Jeremy Jennings and Dylan McEvoy finished second (3:27.24) while Avon Grove’s  Hunter Jarratt, Tyler Boyd, Carson Bogda and Evan Ambrose placed fifth in 3:31.75. 

Jayland Washington, Eric Kirk, Aaron Young and Terrance Laird led Coatesville to a silver medal finish (42.12) in the High School Boys 4×100 Large School, one-half second behind first-place Wolmer Boys High School of Jamaica (41.71).

Coatesville’s Sammie Miller, Arianna Eberly, Porsha Miles and Jordyn Worthington placed fourth (48.09) in the girls Tri-State 4×100.

In the pole vault competition Saturday, Kennett’s Xavier Felliciano placed sixth (14-5 ¼), winning a tiebreaker with three others including Rustin’s Charley Dever.

Friday at the Penn Relays, Bishop Shanahan junior Josh Hoey took fourth in 4:15.25 in the High School Boys’ Mile Run championship one year after earning the gold in the same event. Also Friday, Kennett’s Alec Sheehan finished 10th in the discus with a toss of 174-1.
