Octorara falls in District 1-4A final despite Feld’s brilliant effort

PLYMOUTH MEETING – Octorara ace Aaron Feld turned in another phenomenal mound effort but it wasn’t enough as the Braves suffered a season-ending 1-0 loss to New Hope-Solebury in the District 1-4A championship game Tuesday at Villanova’s Ballpark at Plymouth.

Coming off a 1-0 shutout win over top-seeded Pope John Paul II in the district semifinals last week, Feld allowed just four hits and one unearned run while walking one and striking out eight.

But the right-hander was bested by Matt Benda, who went the distance with a three-hitter that included nine strikeouts.

Andy Imbierowicz, Tim Lubrano and John Cummings had singles for Octorara, which finishes at 10-12.

For the Lions (15-7), who will face the District 3 champions in the state tournament as the lone 4A representative from the district, Kevin Dougherty’s RBI-single in the third inning proved to be the difference.
