Hertz, Kosara lead streaking Kennett to title; Unionville can’t stop Plymouth Whitemarsh – early edition

Kennett 70, Paul Robeson 61, OT – Buzz Hertz connected on three treys and led all scorers with 22 points while Tournament MVP Mitch Kosara added 18 as the Blue Demons (7-3) won their sixth straight with the overtime win in the championship game of the Juenger Holiday Tournament at Haverford High Saturday night.
Josh Ploener also hit double figures with 10 points for Kennett, which took charge with a 13-4 run in the OT to set the stage for Thursday night’s showdown at home with Sun Valley for first place in the Ches-Mont League American Division.

Gov. Mifflin 43, Avon Grove 32 – The Red Devils fell into a 19-10 hole by halftime and never recovered in their consolation game setback at the Boyertown Holiday Tournament.
Matt Gallagher cashed three treys to finish with a team-high 11 points for Avon Grove (3-5), but it wasn’t enough to cover the production of Bryce Black (17 points) and Josh Klahr for the Mustangs (5-4).

Bishop Shanahan 41, St. Joseph’s Prep 39 – Phil Chenard paced a balanced attack with 12 points for the Eagles in their impressive win at the Nelson Classic at Widener. Also contributing at the offensive end for Shanahan were Pierce Fongheiser with 8 points and Joe O’Malley, Brian Ibarguen and Ryan Smyth with 6 each.
 
Penn Charter 56, Oxford 25 – Brock Ruddy scored 11 points to pace a meager offensive output for the Hornets in their consolation game loss at the Marple-Newtown Holiday Tournament.
