Gagnon, Domeier, Umberger hurl Downingtown East by D-West; Avon Grove rallies by Coatesville

Downingtown East 5, Downingtown West 3 – Hutch Gagnon worked five sharp innings for the win, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out 8 and walking none, before Josh Domeier and Grant Umberger (save) sealed the deal with two scoreless innings of relief for the Cougars in their Ches-Mont National win Friday.
Tommy Hammett went 2-for-4 with a run scored while Connor Munnelly drove in a pair of runs for D-East, which also got RBI from Albert Choi, Zack Burton and Joe Cestare.
For the Whippets, Andrew Ciliberto pounded a two-run homer.

Avon Grove 3, Coatesville 1 – Alex Ei and Riley Davis combined on  five-hitter with six strikeouts in the Ches-Mont National triumph for the Red Devils, who overcame a 1-0 deficit with three runs in the fifth inning.
Pat Campbell, Davis and Bryce Carey drove in runs for Avon Grove, with Andrew Brady, Bailey Smith and Carey chipping in with two hits each.
For the Red Raiders, Caleb Hershey went 2-for-3 while Brendan Reilly drove in the lone run with a groundout in the first inning.

Unionville 7, Great Valley 3 – The Indians built a 5-1 lead after three innings and held on behind the combined 7-hit, 9-strikeout pitching of Nick Samulewicz and Zack Kennedy (3 strikeouts in perfect seventh inning for save).
Alex Pelegrin launched a two-run homer while Kyle Loyns (2-4) and Austin Ahart (2-2) belted solo shots for Unionville, which also got strong offensive games from Jason Moore (3-3, 2 doubles, 2R) and Joe Zubillaga (2-4, RBI, R).
For the Patriots, Pete Giombetti and Sean Gowen finished with two hits apiece.

Bishop Shanahan 18, West Chester East 1 , 4 innings – The Eagles banged out 15 hits and got solid work on the mound and at the plate from Matt Bertolami, who went the distance for the win and helped his own cause with a double, single and four RBI.
Matt Samson (4 runs), David Angelo (3 runs), and Austin O’Dell (3 RBI) had three hits apiece in support of Bertolami, who allowed three hits while striking out five.
Adam Smith had a double for the Vikings.

Kennett 8, Octorara 7, 10 innings – Winning pitcher Ben Lesher’s RBI-double in the top of the 10th inning keyed a two-run rally that carried the Blue Demons to the Ches-Mont American decision.
The Braves had forced extra innings when Aaron Feld (two doubles) belted a two-run double in the sixth inning.
