Ford, Chenard, Angelo lift Shanahan past Downingtown East

Bishop Shanahan 69, Downingtown East 56 – The Eagles (10-2, 17-4) claimed a share of the Ches-Mont League National Division title with Coatesville behind a balanced scoring attack led by Tom Ford (16 points), Phil Chenard (15), David Angelo (14) and Kevin Dodds (10) Thursday.
For the Cougars (8-4, 15-7), who never recovered after Shanahan’s 20-9 second-quarter run left them in a 36-21 hole, Malik Slay dropped a game-high 23 points and Andrew King chipped in with 13. D-East will resume play when it hosts a District 1-6A opening round playoff game Friday (2.16).
Shanahan advances to the Ches-Mont Final Four semifinals Saturday at Downingtown West (5 pm) against Rustin, with Coatesville drawing American champion Great Valley in the other semi.
