Downingtown East’s Eghbali claims Ches-Mont National boys singles title

WEST CHESTER – No. 3 seed Navid Eghbali of Downingtown East captured the Ches-Mont League National Division boys singles championship Saturday at Henderson with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Cougars teammate Ahbinav Pillai.

Eghbali reached the championship final by unseating defending champion and top-seeded Brett Graybill of Downingtown West in the semifinals – rebounding from a 6-4 opening-set loss to prevail 6-1 and 6-3. Pillai, the No. 2 seed, advanced with a 6-1, 6-0 win over (4) Josh Biskowitz of Downingtown West in the semis.

Graybill came back to claim third place, handling Whippets teammate Biskowitz 6-1, 6-1 in the consolation final.
