Wrap: Williams shoots Oxford past Kennett; Sun Valley tops Great Valley

OXFORD  – Madeline Williams knocked down a runner from the right elbow as time expired to lift Oxford to a 30-28 Ches-Mont League American Division victory over Kennett Tuesday night.

Kennett (0-3 league), which got 12 points from Miranda Hill, had tied things up at 28 when Emily Adelman nailed a three-pointer at the 20-second mark. Hannah Bahls led the Hornets (1-2) with 12 points.

Sun Valley 38, Great Valley 35 – Madison Corrento led a balanced scoring effort with 10 points while Kate Lannan and Shannon Savage combined for 16 more to spark the Vanguards (3-1 league, 6-1 overall).

For the Patriots (1-1 league), who were outscored 28-21 in the second half after holding a 14-10 lead at the break, Codi Campetti dropped a game-high 13 points and Ashlyn Smith followed with 10.

Coatesville 58, Downingtown West 51 – Zada Bookman and Nafisa Saunders posted double-doubles to pace the Red Raiders (2-1 league), who used an 18-9 run in the fourth quarter to reverse a 42-40 deficit.

Bookman had 14 points and 12 boards while Saunders collected 18 points and 12 rebounds to counter Maddie Dew’s game-high 20 points (3 treys) for the Whippets (2-2).

West Chester Henderson 68, West Chester East 42 – The Warriors (2-2) placed four players in double figures en route to the Ches-Mont National romp. Emma Bertrando (17 points), Maddie DePrisco (14), Vicki Kneis (10) and Julie Gawrylowicz (10) all hit two columns for Henderson, which set the tone by outscoring the Vikings 18-6 in the first quarter.

For West Chester East (0-3), Maura McCloskey scored 17 points and Holly Hager chipped in with 11.

Bishop Shanahan 55, Avon Grove 20 – The Eagles (4-0) led 19-3 after one quarter and 40-9 at the break and were not seriously challenged in the Ches-Mont National contest. Ciara Forde connected for 11 points while Jen Sendi and Kelly Cox netted 8 apiece for Shanahan, which had 11 girls getting into the scoring column. The Red Devils drop to 0-3 in the National with the loss.
