Wrap: Octorara’s Hoopes, Burridge earn golds at Wood; Coatesville, Kennett send 4 to Donegal semifinals

PHILADELPHIA – Octorara’s Noah Hoopes (145) and Scott Burridge (160) stayed unbeaten on the season at 8-0 and 9-0 respectively en route to gold-medal finishes at the Archbishop Wood Tournament Saturday.

Picking up silvers for the Braves, who placed sixth in the field, were Seth Hoopes (113) and Caden Dalton (152) while Barry Sellers (126) and Ryan Sharpless (170) finished third.

Donegal Tournament

Coatesville’s Michael Moses (106), Ryan Dellicompagni (138), Chase Stephens (152) and Sean McBride (182) stayed in the gold medal hut with quarterfinal victories Saturday. Also for the Red Raiders, Colin McBride (160) stayed alive in the consolation bracket with a 1:34 fall of Whitehall’s Jesiah Davis.

Kennett’s Logan Reigel (113), Gerhardt Reiter (120), Drew Massetti (126) and Tyler LaCosta (160) also advanced to the championship semifinals at Donegal, with Mary Nichols (106), Jake Anderson (138) and Bryan Castaneda (220) advancing with victories in Consolation Round 3.

Flo-Excalibur Tournament

West Chester East placed 14th in the 27-team team field at Wilkes University behind a fifth-place finish from Noah Hankin at 132. Sixth-place medals went to Andrew DiBernardo (152), Caleb Subach (152) and Eric Gassenmeyer (195) while Aaron Nelson (170) and Corey Celenza (106) placed eighth for the Vikings.

Beast of the East

Rustin’s Costas Hatzipavlides dropped a 2-0 decision to Boyertown’s Gregg Harvey in the opening round of the 182-pound bracket at the prestigious tournament at the University of Delaware.
