Wrap: Great Valley blanks Sun Valley; Bushey boosts Rustin

Great Valley 4, Sun Valley 0 – The Patriots raised their Ches-Mont slate to 4-1 as Christina DiMedio delivered a pair of goals and Hannah Cheslock and Devan DeHaven added single strikes.

West Chester Rustin 1, Oxford 0 – The Golden Knights upped their league record to 5-0 (7-1-1 overall) as Alexa Bushey scored in the first half and Julia Griesemere posted the shutout with one save. Tara Bender finished with 20 saves to keep the Hornets (2-3, 3-3) within striking distance.

Downingtown West 1, West Chester East 0 – Downingtown West got goals from Kerri Caruso and Sophie Goldstein en route to a 2-0 Ches-Mont League National Division win over West Chester East Wednesday.

Shae Yanez finished with three saves in recording the shutout for the Whippets, who raised their lead mark to 3-1-1. For the Vikings (4-1 league), Sophie Paolizzi came up with seven saves.

Downingtown East 3, Kennett 0 – The Cougars got goals from Maddie Baxter, Lauren Pittman and Jess Reyer and two assists from Brittany Weiderhold to raise their record to 4-0-1, 4-1-2. Kaelyn Johns collected three saves for the shutout.

Unionville 1, Bishop Shanahan 0 – Quinn Benintende recorded the game’s only goal in the 61st minute to help the Indians improve to 4-1 in the league and 5-2 overall. Benintende scored on a breakaway, taking a pass in stride from Taylor French and finding the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season. Adrianna Weber totaled nine saves for the shutout while Shanahan (1-4 league) keeper Evelyn Lewis kept things close with nine saves.

Avon Grove 4, Octorara 3 – Rachel Fenstermacher cashed in the game-winner in overtime for the Red Devils (2-3 league). The decisive strike was the second goal of the game for Fenstermacher, who got scoring help from teammates Emma Beck and Allison Procak.
