West Chester East suffers season-ending loss to No. 1 Holy Ghost Prep

(1) Holy Ghost Prep 4, (16) West Chester East 2 – The Vikings were unable to sustain a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning in their season-ending loss in the opening round of the District 1-5A playoffs Monday.
The Firebirds (16-1) forged a 2-2 tie on Andrew Curry’s two-run home run in the sixth inning before Will Binder’s walk-off two-run slam in the seventh secured the comeback win.
WC East managed 10 hits in the loss, with Jay Dalton picking up three and Mason Griffin and Joey Wileczek adding two each. 
Ryan Basarab allowed just two hits while striking out eight and walking three in pitching five shutout innings for the Vikings before yielding to Evan Brunner, who was tagged with the loss.
WC East finishes 8-11 on the season.
