West Chester East, Oxford extend winning streaks

West Chester East 7, Downingtown East 2 – The Vikings pushed across three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to snap a 2-2 tie en route to the Ches-Mont League National Division victory Tuesday.
Amanda Gomez, who finished with two RBI along with teammates Kinzie Thompson and Kate Douglass,  delivered the decisive blow with an RBI-single to send WC East (12-2) – the top-ranked team in District 1-5A – to its fifth straight win. Jess Gomez went the distance in the circle, allowing just six hits and one earned run while walking one and striking out two.
For the Cougars (10-5), losing pitcher Avery Byrnes and Steph Jacoby had doubles and one RBI apiece.

Oxford 13, Great Valley 6 – The Hornets (9-5) exploded for 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back in notching the Ches-Mont League American Division decision to extend their winning streak to four.
Winning pitcher Maddie Frank keyed Oxford’s 14-hit attack with a single, triple and home run while driving in six runs. Also for the Hornets, Gianna Coyle was 4-5 with three RBI and three runs.
For the Patriots (3-11), Erin Bevec was 2-4 with a run scored out of the leadoff spot and Marina Nadwoody picked up a pair of RBI.
