West Chester East falls one win short of state playoffs

(4) Radnor 58, (9) West Chester East 52 – The Vikings were doomed by a poor start in suffering the season-ending loss in District 1-5A playbacks Tuesday night, denied of a state playoff bid in the PIAA qualifier.
Marissa McDonald hit five triples en route to 20 points, Lauren Klieber chipped in with 14 and Mackenzie Richardson added 11 on three triples for WC East, which never fully recovered after falling behind 22-13 in the first quarter.
The Vikings knocked down 10 shots from beyond the arc in the setback, completing their strong season at 15-10.
Ellie Mueller scored a game-high 29 points – including the 1,000th of her career – for Radnor, which hosts (11) Pope John Paul II Friday (7 pm) for fifth place in the district.
