Unionville’s Juul, Shanahan’s Hoey qualify for Millrose Mile with convincing wins


NEW YORK –Unionville’s Anna Juul and Bishop Shanahan’s Josh Hoey posted convincing victories at the AT&T Hall of Fame Invitational at the New York City Armory to qualify for the Feb. 11 Millrose Games.

The Harvard-bound Juul took the top spot in the girls’ invitational mile, breaking her own school record and bettering the meet record by more than three seconds with a 4:52.24 clocking, the best indoor time in the nation to date. Also competing in the mile was Juul’s Unionville teammate, Madison McGovern, who finished eighth (5:20.63).

Hoey finished in 4:17.63 to outdistance the field by more than three seconds, closing with a 2:04 over the last 800 meters to earn his place in the prestigious Millrose Games.
