Unionville upends district champs; Rustin, Great Valley notch wins

WESTTOWN – Unionville exploded for four second-half goals en route to a season-opening 4-0 triumph over defending District 1-AAAA champion Neshaminy at the season-opening West Chester Rustin Tournament Friday.
The Indians got goals from four different players: Veronica Hineman (Erin Garvey assist), Lauren Bell (direct kick), Alexxa Conroy (PK) and Claire Matson (Alex Wilson assist) to seize control.

Rustin 5, Garnet Valley 3 – The Golden Knights got goals from five different players en route to the season-opening nonleague win in their own tournament. Megan March, Ashley Chisholm (two assists), Riley Boyd, Gaby Sabeckis and Kendall Ammerman. 
Great Valley 3, Phoenixville 2 – Emma Gray recorded a hat trick while Cassidy Hoops and Roni Yonce provided assists to boost the Patriots to victory in the Route 29 Series.

Council Rock North 2, Avon Grove 1 – The Red Devils were unable to sustain a second-half surge in absorbing the season-opening nonleague loss.

CB West 5, West Chester East 1 – Hope Morrison picked up a pair of goals for the Bucks, who ruined the season debut for the Vikings with a 4-1 run in the second half at the Henderson Tournament.
