Unionville tops Great Valley for state boys tennis championship

HERSHEY  – Unionville captured the PIAA-AAA team boys tennis championship Saturday at the Hershey Racquet Club with a 3-0 victory over Ches-Mont League rival Great Valley.

The Indians grabbed the gold behind Ethan Bradley, who beat Sam Kesti 7-5, 6-1 at second singles; Victor Li, who posted a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Nikhil Gangoli at No. 3 singles; and the No. 2 doubles team of Clay Horowitz and Ethan Fitzsimons, who posted a 6-0, 6-3 win.

In the semifinals, Unionville handled Council Rock North 3-1 and Great Valley edged Lower Merion 3-2 to set up the all Ches-Mont League final.

The Indians’ semifinal victory came by virtue of wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles from Tristan Bradley and Ethan Bradley and No. 2 doubles from Horowitz/Fitzsimons.

For the Patriots in their semifinal conquest, Sameer Gangoli, Sam Kesti and Nikhil Gangoli ran the table in the singles matches to key the triumph.
