Unionville outslugs Rustin; WC East, Avon Grove, Downingtown West roll

EAST MARLBOROUGH – Unionville exploded for six runs in the sixth inning on consecutive hits by Eric Takoushian, Tyler Rafetto, Drew Jarmuz, Alex Pechin and Ryan Barrett, snapping a late tie en route to a 10-5 Ches-Mont League American Division win over West Chester Rustin Monday.
Andrew Jones went the distance for the win as the Indians (8-6) closed within two games of the division-leading Golden Knights (9-3), who got two hits and two RBI from Charlie Concannon.

West Chester East 14, West Chester Henderson 2 (5 innings) – The Vikings (10-3) amassed 17 hits in just four trips to the plate in registering the Ches-Mont National blowout win over the Warriors (4-9).
David Conklin picked up the win, recording six strikeouts in four innings while Ian Street, Sean O’Donnell, Shane Springer, Donald Edwards and Ben Foti combined for 14 hits, 12 RBI and 11 runs scored.
WC East scored six runs in both the first and fourth innings.

Avon Grove 5, Downingtown East 0 – Mike Deitz fired a three-hit shutout, striking out two and walking three for the Red Devils (10-4), who got all the runs they’d need with a three-run burst in the second.
For the Cougars (7-6), Jake Truchan was a bright spot, hurling two innings of shutout relief that featured two strikeouts against one hit and one walk..

Downingtown West 7, Bishop Shanahan 1 – The Whippets (11-3) maintained their half-game lead in the National Division over WC East behind Kenny Jarema, who notched the complete game win, allowing just four hits while racking up nine strikeouts.
Alex Jankowski drove in three runs and Jarema contributed two RBI to help fuel three-run bursts in the fifth and sixth innings. The Eagles fell to 6-7 with the loss.

Sun Valley 1, Octorara 0 – CJ Pruitt went the distance with 10 strikeouts, allowing just two hits and one walk in outdueling Jackson Ray. The Vanguards (4-8) scored the only run of the game in the fifth on a wild pitch, helping drop the Braves to 4-9 in the C-M American.

Oxford 10, Kennett 3 – Andrew Stefanosky picked up the pitching win while Michael Williams and Hunter Hall (double, two RBI) both went 2-3 with a combined five runs scored for the Hornets (4-10).
The Blue Demons (4-9) self-destructed with five errors, watching a 6-3 deficit morph into a 10-3 hole when Oxford plated four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
