Thompson, Shea, DePrisco lift Henderson into state quarterfinals

(1-1) Henderson 57, (3-4) Susquehannock 47 – Erin Thompson scored 21 points, Abbey Shea added 14 and Maddie DePrisco chipped in with 9 as the unbeaten Warriors advanced to the state quarterfinals with the PIAA Class 5A victory Wednesday night at Garden Spot High School in New Holland.

Henderson (29-0), which faces District 12 champion Archbishop Wood (20-7) Saturday (Site, Time TBA), seized control with a 17-2 run at the end of the first quarter to go up 17-8, never relinquishing the lead from that point.

After grabbing a 30-23 halftime lead, the Warriors then rode a 7-0 run midway through the third quarter to take a 46-34 heading into the final frame.  Thompson, who was 15-for-19 from the stripe, ended the third quarter by hitting three straight foul shots and Henderson held on from there to reach the state quarterfinals for the first time in program history.
