Spano, Caufield lift Henderson by Avon Grove; Octorara edges Rustin on Bright’s HR

Henderson 5, Avon Grove 2 – Evan Spano thrived on the mound and at the plate to lead the Warriors to the Ches-Mont League National Division victory Tuesday at Bob Owens Field.
Spano worked 5 2/3 innings for the win, allowing just three hits and one earned run while walking four and striking out seven, and aided his own cause with a double, home run and two RBI. Brendan Gray picked up the save with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Also for Henderson, which built a commanding 5-0 lead through four innings, Thomas Caufield went deep and drove in two runs and James Vito had two hits and one RBI.
Andrew Brady belted a solo home run and Andrew Nole picked up the other RBI for the Red Devils in the sixth inning.

Octorara 2, Rustin 1 – Bobby Bright drilled a two-run  homer in the fourth inning as the Braves overcame an early 1-0 deficit to post the narrow Ches-Mont American victory.
John Cummings picked up the win and Aaron Feld notched the save, combining for 15 strikeouts and limiting the Golden Knights to six hits and one unearned run.
For Rustin, Jake Geissler went the distance for the loss despite striking out nine, while Nick Maiorano and Collin Crowe had two hits each.
