Smuda, Phelan lift Downingtown East past Great Valley; Henderson stays unbeaten behind Shea

Downingtown East 55, Great Valley 35 – The Cougars (7-2) raced out to a 17-6 lead after the opening quarter and were never seriously challenged in recording the nonleague triumph in Ches-Mont League Interdivisional action Saturday.
Bella Smuda hit for 24 points and Erin Phelan added 16 for D-East, while Tessa Liberatoscioli (10) scored in double figures for the Patriots (7-2).
