Smuda carries Downingtown East; Oxford rolls behind Hampshire, Fernandez

Downingtown East 56, Wilson 48 – Bella Smuda keyed a balanced attack with a game-high 23 points and the Cougars (17-5) went 19-22 at the free throw line to capture the nonleague decision Wednesday.
Lauren Kent added 11 points and Caroline Brennan chipped in with 10 for D-East, which trailed 40-39 entering the fourth quarter before unleashing a decisive 17-8 closing run.

Oxford 49, Delco Christian 25 – Anna Hampshire and Cristina Fernandez combined for 27 points to power the Hornets to the nonleague win. Oxford (8-12) went wire-to-wire for the victory, racing out to a 29-10 halftime lead that was more than enough.
