Smith’s 100th career goal keys Shanahan; Downingtown East reaches state 3A quarters

LEHMAN – Kaela Smith posted two assists and two goals, including the 100th of her career, as Bishop Shanahan rolled to a 17-5 win over District 2 champion Wyoming Seminary in the opening round of the PIAA Class AA girls lacrosse playoffs Tuesday at Lake Lehman.
The victory sends the District 1 runnerup Eagles, who got a hat trick from Jess Holowsko and 10 saves from goalie Jess Gorr, to the state quarterfinals Saturday against (1-4) Gwynedd Mercy Academy (17-3 winners over Cardinal O’Hara) at a time and site to be determined.
