Roundup: Bishop Shanahan blanks Oxford; Forsyth’s OT goal lifts Henderson

OXFORD – Katie Logenderfer and Mary Corcoran scored goals while Margaret Boncock posted the shutout to lead Bishop Shanahan to a 2-0 Ches-Mont League girls’ soccer conquest of Oxford Monday. For the Hornets, who slipped to 2-1, Tara Bender came through with six saves.

West Chester Henderson 2, Unionville 1 – The Warriors took the Ches-Mont win when Laura Forsyth found the back of the net in overtime, converting a cross into the game-winner in the fifth minute of the extra session. Also for Henderson (1-1, 2-1), Kailee Toonan excelled on defense and Julie Graziano had a goal to negate a strike by the Indians’ Chloe Smith.

West Chester East  5, Coatesville 0 – The Vikings (3-1 overall) stayed perfect in two Ches-Mont starts as Bridget Mullineaux connected for a pair of goals and Brianna Girard, Kaycee Pitt and Hannah Specht added single strikes. For the Red Raiders, Shannon McLaughlin was strong in net with 16 saves.

Downingtown East 2, Avon Grove 1 – Lauren Pittman’s goal with three seconds left in the first half was the difference for the Cougars, who also struck early when Brittany Weiderhold found the back of the net in the opening minute. Kaelyn Johns notched eight saves for Downingtown East, the lone blemish a goal by the Red Devils’ Casey Weber.

Downingtown West 4, Great Valley 0 – The Whippets registered the Ches-Mont shutout behind keeper Jessica Yanez and a two-goal outing from Deven Oberdorfer. Also for Downingtown West,  Amanda Treadway and Megan Keithly chipped in with goals and Kerri Caruso delivered a pair of assists.

Octorara 4, Sun Valley 1 – Brielle Kirk connected for two goals while Ashley Jones and Maddie Mahoney added single strikes for the Braves, who did all of their scoring in the first half. Olivia McLaughlin averted the shutout with a second-half goal for the Vanguards.

West Chester Rustin 5, Kennett 2 – The Golden Knights used a balanced scoring attack to earn the Ches-Mont win, Mackenzie Moore, Brooke Morgan, Cassie Cheeseman, Ashlyn Kearner and Carly Liberatore all scoring goals in support of winning keeper Jenna Moser (four saves). For the Blue Demons, Ashley Jones and Maddie Mahoney cashed in goals.
