Meredith, Ferguson key Henderson comeback; Chester delivers for Coatesville

Henderson 37, Rustin 34 – Michaela Meredith and Grace Ferguson posted double-doubles with 12 points and 10 rebounds apiece to power the Warriors past their Ches-Mont League and neighborhood rival in the championship game of the Henderson Tip-Off Tournament Saturday.
Erin Thompson chipped in with 9 points and 4 assists for Henderson (2-0), which used a 13-7 run in the fourth quarter to turn around a 27-24 deficit. For the Golden Knights (1-1), who knocked down six three-pointers, Grace Plona posted 9 points while Grace Shivers added 8 with a pair of triples.

Coatesville 60, Unionville 58 – Neveyah Chester buried a foul line jumper as time expired to cap a 28-point performance that carried the Red Raiders (1-1) to the come-for-behind win in the consolation game at the Henderson Tournament.
Trailing by 10 with 4:00 left, Coatesville completed its late surge with a defensive stop that began with a Chester deflection on an inbounds pass and continued with Danae Ellzy picking up the loose ball and handing off to Chester who then worked her magic.
Hitting double figures for the hard-luck Indians (0-2) were Erin Towler with 20 points, Anna Iacocca with 14 and Emma Dempsey with 11.

Great Valley 50, Downingtown West 20 – The Patriots (2-0) raced out to leads of 15-2 after one quarter, 23-11 at the half and 34-14 heading into the final frame en route to the win at the Great Valley Tip-Off Tournament. Balanced scoring was the key for Great Valley, which got 11 points from Kati Pebuto, 9 from Mia DeRobertis and 8 each from Tessa Liberatoscioli and Leah Valyo. Grace Wenner scored 5 points to lead the Whippets.

Episcopal Academy 50, Downingtown East 44 – Bella Smuda cashed in a game-high 26 points and Caroline Brennan added 11 to lead the way in the loss at the Downingtown East Tip-Off Showcase for the host Cougars (0-2), who were unable to erase a 30-20 halftime deficit despite a 24-20 edge in the final two quarters.

Kennett 62, Ridley 54 – All-Tournament selection Andrea Prestianne poured in 24 points, Gina Lusvardi dropped 18 and Ellie Matthews added 11 as the Blue Demons (1-1) rallied in the second half to record the win in the Methacton Tournament consolation game. Trailing 40-27 at the break, Kennett locked things up at 50 with a 23-10 run in the third quarter before closing it out with a 12-4 advantage in the final frame.
