Mattera, Lewis double at Kennett Field Classic

KENNETT SQUARE – West Chester Rustin’s Alessia Mattera and Caroline Lewis of West Chester East were both double winners at the Kennett Field Classic Monday.

Mattera earned the gold in the discus (97-2), just ahead on Oxford’s Kara Campbell (2nd, 85-11) and Henderson’s Gianna Green (3rd, 78-8) while also taking first in the shot put (31-9 ¾) to outdistance seconed-place Ashley Mullawan of Rustin and third-place Grace Schrof of Unionville.

Lewis doubled in the high jump (5-2)  and triple jump (17-6), settling for second behind Rustin’s Emma Snelling in the triple jump. Other top finishers in the high jump were Kennett’s Allison McGlynn (2nd, 5-1) and Oxford’s Shannon Reilly (5-0).

Other winners included West Chester’s East Katie Peltier (javelin) and Meredith Rickey of Henderson (pole vault). Garnering seconds in those respective events were Kennett’s Michaela Clarkson (javelin) and Kennett’s Susannna Casini (pole vault).
