Mat roundup: Downingtown East rules at Hatboro-Horsham behind Manuel, Richie

HORSHAM – Downingtown East got gold medal performances from Keanu Manuel (106) and Lukas Richie (132) en route to the team title at Hatboro-Horsham’s Ralph Wetzel Classic Saturday.
In the championship finals, Manuel pinned Chris Cleland (CB West) in 1:15 while Richie handled Chase Banyai (Pottsgrove) 5-1 for the Cougars, who finished with 175 points to finish ahead of Hatboro-Horsham (136), William Tennent (126.5), Avon Grove (124) and Springside Chestnut Hill Academy (119) in the 28-team field.
Other medalists for D-East included Brett Horne (2nd, 138), Josh Wileczek (3rd, 195), Kyle Mittelstadt (4th, 126), Matt Romanelli (4th, 170), Jett Lucas-Murphy (5th, 145) and Spencer Uggla (7th, 160).
Avon Grove also had a strong showing at Hatboro-Horsham, highlighted by runner-up finishes from Jordan Howard (120) and Nick Barnhart (145).
Earning third-place medals for the Red Devils were John Bosio (132) and Chris Buonocore (182) while Ryan Santos (6th, 195) and Jacob Armstrong (8th, 126) also came away with hardware.
 
Conestoga Valley Holiday Classic
Coatesville’s Brennan McBride earned a 1­-0 decision over Robert Lawlor (Father Judge) in the championship final at 106 to trigger the Red Raiders’ 16th-place effort in the 26­-team field. Also earning medals for Coatesville were Alex Raimondo (2nd, 195) and Nathan Lucier (8th, 113).
Central Dauphin (197 points), Central Mountain (169) and Owen J. Roberts (166) were the top three team finishers at Conestoga Valley.
 
Trojan Wars (Chambersburg)
Unionville finished 32nd in the 40-team field behind medalists Gavin Grim (6th, 182) and Tyler Mousaw (7th, 170).
