Great Valley’s Gangoli continues Ches-Mont’s domination at state boys tennis singles championship

HERSHEY  – Great Valley sophomore Sameer Gangoli continued the Ches-Mont League’s domination of the PIAA Class AAA boys tennis singles championship with a three-set win over Dallastown’s Holden Koons Saturday evening at the Hershey Racquet Club.

Gangoli earned the gold by topping Koons 6-1,6-7 (6), 6-2 in the final, following the lead of Downingtown East’s Michael Dickson, who earned the state gold in 2016 and 2017.

Gangoli reached the final with a hard-earned 6-4, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (6) win over Unionville Tristan Bradely, who settled for fourth in the state after falling to Robby Shymansky of Fox Chapel 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2 in the third-place match.

In the state doubles competition, Great Valley’s Nikhil Gangoli and Sam Kesti earned the bronze medal, topping Council Rock North’s Matt Whalen and Chris DeMedio 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the third-place match.
