Great Valley girls, boys shine at Burdette Classic; West Chester East’s Clarke earns gold

BETHLEHEM – Great Valley had a strong showing at Wednesday’s Robert Burdette Indoor Classic at Lehigh University.
The Patriots girls set the pace in the the relay events, garnering a second-place finish in the 4×200 and thirds in the sprint medley and 4×800. 
Individually, Great Valley got top 5 performances in the girls’ competition from Sarah Merriwether (2nd, high jump), Amy Willig (3rd, 800) and Julia Hoffritz (5th, mile run).
In the boys portion of the meet, the Patriots got fourth-place finishes from Michael Search (3,000) and the distance medley relay group.

Ursinus College Holiday Open
COLLEGEVILLE – West Chester East’s Allyson Clarke placed first in the one-mile run and Kennett’s Meredith Krieger earned the silver medal in the pole vault to key the Ches-Mont participants at the Ursinus College Holiday Open Saturday.
In the boys portion of the competition, West Chester East got a second-place finish from Charlie Webb in the 55 hurdles and a third from Joshua Lewin in the one mile run.
Earning fifth-place medals were Oxford’s Remiah Redd (55, 200), Bishop Shanahan’s Ryan Dougherty (800), Rustin’s Michael Fannon (high jump), Kennett’s Pierce Genereux (pole vault) and Shanahan’s distance medley relay team.
