Florschutz, Bock lift Coatesville by Shanahan; Beebe sparks Downingtown West

Coatesville 1, Bishop Shanahan 0 – Natalie Florschutz hurled a five-hit shutout with nine strikeouts to outduel Eagles ace Devon Miller and Kayla Bock blasted a solo home run in the fourth inning for the game’s only run to carry the Red Raiders to the Ches-Mont League National Division win Wednesday.
Miller also logged a complete game, limiting Coatesville to three hits while striking out 10 in six innings of work.

Downingtown West 5, Downingtown East 0 – Natalie Beebe got the job done in the circle and at the plate, firing a one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and delivering a two-run double to key a four-run burst in the fourth inning that carried the Whippets (16-2) past the Cougars (12-6) in Ches-Mont National action.
D-West, which got two hits including a double and two runs scored from Cait Coker, tacked on an insurance run in the fifth on Morgan DeFreitas’ sacrifice fly and Beebe did the rest in outdueling Avery Byrnes. The lone hit for D-East was a single off the bat of Grace McKelvy.
 
West Chester East 8, Oxford 7 – The Vikings survived a late charge by the Hornets behind the arm and bat of Olivia Ronayne, who notched the complete-game win with eight strikeouts and contributed two hits and two RBI.
Also for East, which withstood a six-run Oxford rally in the bottom of the seventh inning, Lexie Wilson drove in two runs and Sam Gomez chipped in with three hits and an RBI. Abby O’Connor had three hits to pace the Hornets.
 
Unionville 3, Great Valley 2 – Maddy Frich went 2-4 with two doubles and an RBI, Jess Heimberger went 2-2 with an RBI and Maddy Marsh made a run-saving catch in center field to help the Indians record the Ches-Mont League American Division win.
For the Patriots, Erin Bevec belted a two-run home run in the fifth to cut the gap to 3-2, Amanda Heins went 2-3 and Emily Dupont was strong in the circle, allowing seven hits and no earned runs in going the distance.
