First-round leader Shevlin of Rustin triggers strong showing from Ches-Mont

LIMERICK  – The Ches-Mont League, led by a 2-under 70 from leader Luke Shevlin of Rustin, has three of the top four golfers in the field after the opening round of the District 1-AAA Boys Golf Championship Monday at Turtle Creek GC.

Kennett’s Evan Brown, the Ches-Mont individual champion, and Ryan Conners of Bishop Shanahan share second place with defending district champion Kyle Vance (Methacton), one shot behind Shevlin at 1-over 71.

Also in the top 10 among Ches-Mont competitors are Great Valley’s Stephen Borst (tied 6th, 73) and Unionville’s Jack Niemkiewicz (tied 8th, 74).

Other qualifiers for the second and final round Tuesday at Turtle Creek are Unionville’s Nick Gianelos (75) and Downingtown East’s Wills Montgomery (76).
