Ferguson, Shea lift Henderson past Downingtown East; Smida leads Avon Grove

Henderson 44, Downingtown East 38 – Grace Ferguson posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Abbey Shea chipped in with 9 points and 8 boards to lead the undefeated Warriors (4-0, 10-0) to the Ches-Mont League National Division victory Wednesday night.
Also for Henderson, which built leads of 10-4 after one quarter and 20-10 at the break to take charge in the battle of league unbeaten, Erin Thompson hit for 12 points.
For the Cougars, who made things interesting with an 18-8 surge in the fourth quarter, Erin Phelan dropped 14 points and Olivia Williams chipped in with 13.

Avon Grove 55, Downingtown West 36 – The Red Devils raced out to a 24-8 lead by the end of the first quarter and were never seriously challenged in posting the Ches-Mont National triumph.
Amanda Smida collected 12 points while Jamie Perkins and Sara White added 11 apiece for Avon Grove, offsetting Sammie Sipes’ game-high 13 points for the Whippets (0-5, 1-11).
