Downingtown West’s Jordan Bradley reaches district singles quarterfinals

Downingtown West senior Jordan Bradley advanced to the District 1 girls tennis singles 3A quarterfinals with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Phoenixville’s Julia Gumienak in the second round Friday at the Legacy Center.

The fourth-seeded Bradley, who opened with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Methacton’s Dina Nouaime, will face Radnor’s Kanon Ciarrocchi Saturday with the winner automatically qualifying for the state tournament. It will be the third straight year the pair has met in districts, with Bradley winning the previous two showdowns – 6-1, 6-4 in last year’s quarterfinals and 6-1, 7-6 (7-1) in the 2016 second round. Ciarrocchi topped Henderson’s Hannah Baxter 6-1, 6-2 in the opening round.

The only other Ches-Mont League player to advance beyond the first round was Unionville’s Leah Walter, the American Division singles champion who posted a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Neshaminy’s Nicole Ilkovic before getting eliminated in the second round.

Including Baxter, the other Ches-Mont league first-round casualties included Downingtown East’s Tali Levine, Downingtown West’s Holly Koons, Unionville’s Saanvi Garg and Rustin’s Cassie Hung.
