Downingtown West, Unionville’s Walker earn gold at Ches-Mont boys cross country championship

KENNETT SQUARE – Downingtown West ran away with the Ches-Mont League boys cross country championship Monday at Unionville, placing five runners in the top 10 for 32 points to outdistance runnerup West Chester East (90).

Payton Sewall (3rd), Isaac Valderranbano (4th), Aiden Barnhill (6th), Joseph Chamoun (9th) and Keith Wagner (10th) led the way for the Whippets, whose closest challenger – WC East – was paced by second-place Joshua Lewin and 12th-place Joseph Mazza.

Host Unionville was third in the event, with junior Cole Walker taking meet gold and Cole Driver (7th) and Ethan McIntyre (8th) also placing in the top 8. Henderson was led by senior Calvin Pash’s fifth-place finish.
