Downingtown West stuns 2-time defending state champion Emmaus for spot in final

PIAA-Class 3A Semifinals
(1-1) Downingtown West 3, (11-1) Emmaus 1 – The unbeaten Whippets (25-0) advanced to the state championship Saturday (2 pm) versus (3-1) Penn Manor at the Zephyr Sports Complex, Whitehall, with the decisive win over the two-time defending state champions at Exeter High School Tuesday.
Claudia Jaszczak, JJ Smyth and Tatum Johnson all collected goals and Taylor Orsi picked up two assists for D-West, which ended Emmaus’ 82-game winning streak. Emmaus, which has been to the state semis in seven straight years, finishes its season at 28-1, posting 20 shutouts and allowing just 10 goals along the way.

Penn Manor, which has outscored the opposition 12-0 in its three state playoff wins, moved on with a 2-0 shutout of (3) Hershey Tuesday.
