D East notches 7th straight win behind Smuda, McFillin; WC East, Henderson notch wins (updated)

Downingtown East 51, Red Lion 45 – The Cougars bolted out to a 27-21 halftime lead and held on down the stretch to record their seventh straight win Saturday.
Bella Smuda dropped a game-high 22 points and Mary McFillin added 11 for D-East (7-3).

West Chester East 52, Penncrest 37 – The Vikings (6-4) rode a shutdown defensive effort and the double figures scoring of Marissa McDonald and Lauren Klieber to the nonleague win. McDonald collected 21 points and Klieber chipped in with 17 for WC East, which limited Penncrest to 14 points in the second half to open up a narrow 26-23 lead.

Henderson 42, Kennett 37 – Grace Ferguson posted a double-double with 19 points and 21 rebounds while blocking 5 shots and Molly Manion chipped in with 8 points and 8 rebounds as the Warriors topped the Blue Demons in a Ches-Mont League crossover clash.
 
Oxford 43, Avon Grove 42 – Anna Hampshire buried a three-pointer late in the fourth quarter to help the Hornets(5-3) notch the Ches-Mont crossover victory. Hampshire and Cristina Fernandez cashed 13 points apiece to pace Oxford. The loss drops the Red Devils to 3-7 overall.

CB West 73, Coatesville 30 – Neveyah Chester returned to the Red Raiders’ lineup from injury with 9 points but it wasn’t enough to erase a 26-4 Bucks’ run in the second quarter that put the nonleague clash away. Coatesville is now 3-6 overall.
