Downingtown West, Kennett extend winning streaks

Downingtown West 4, Oxford 1 – The Whippets improved to 18-2 with their fifth straight win Wednesday in Ches-Mont League interdivisional action.
Carly Grandizio drove in two runs while Brooke Dailey and Morgan DeFreitas also picked up RBI in support of winning pitcher Natalie Beebe, who went the distance, allowing just five hits and striking out nine in dispatching the Hornets (11-9).
Kennett 11, Rustin 7 – The Blue Demons (14-6) extended their winning streak to four with some late thunder as Ainsley Albert drove in three runs and Genevieve Ebaugh added two RBI.
Kennett overcame a 7-5 deficit with two runs in the sixth and four in the seventh. For the Golden Panthers (5-14), Sami LaRosa drove in two runs with a double and home run and Hope Geissler (double) added two RBI.
Downingtown East 4, Bishop Shanahan 1 – Avery Byrnes dominated in the circle, delivering a complete game with five strikeouts and five hits allowed to carry the Cougars (13-6) past the Eagles (13-6).
Lexi Hammer delivered a two-run single and Val Ponto added an RBI-single to key the D-East attack, which also featured a triple by Grace McKelvey and double by Steph Jacoby that led to runs.
