Downingtown West edges West Chester East; Griffiths, Deshaies power Unionville

Downingtown West 3, West Chester East 2 – Natalie Beebe went the distance in the circle for the win while Hannah Greider, Taylor Posner and Lili Najim drove in runs to propel the Whippets to the Ches-Mont League National Division victory Friday.
For the Vikings, who wasted a solid start from Jess Gomez in the loss, Paige Olson went 2-for-4 with a triple and run and Amanda Gomez was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI.

Unionville 13, Sun Valley 3, 6 innings – Analise Griffiths went 4-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored, Anna Deshaies drove in two runs during a 4-for-4 outing that included a double, Amanda Panati was 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs and Dani Panati had a triple and three RBI to lift the Indians to the Ches-Mont American triumph.
Sydney Horan struck out 14 in her complete game win. Unionville, which amassed 20 hits, blew open a 6-3 lead with six runs in the sixth inning.

Great Valley 10, Kennett 9 – Amanda Heins (2 doubles) and Erin Bevec (double) drove in three runs apiece and Lilly Armand was 3-for-3 with two runs scored to carry the Patriots to the Ches-Mont American triumph.
Great Valley, which scored six runs in the second inning, needed two runs in the top of the seventh to overcome a 9-8 deficit in the slugfest that produced a combined 22 hits.

Downingtown East 9, Octorara 1 – Avery Byrnes stole the show in her first varsity start, striking out 14 and helping her own cause with two hits and two runs scored as the Cougars captured the Ches-Mont crossover win.
Also for D-East, Steph Jacoby drove in four runs with two singles and a double, Lexi Hammer had two hits and three runs scored and Chelsey Kacmar finished with two hits and two runs.
