Downingtown West, Coatesville fall in District 1-6A quarterfinals

(15) Garnet Valley 9, (7) Downingtown West 5, 12 innings – The Jaguars pushed across six runs in the top of the 12th inning to reach the District 1-6A semifinals Friday.
Nina Gallagher (3-5), Cait Coker, Hannah Greider and Carly Grandizio drove in runs for D-West, which falls into the consolation bracket needing two wins to advance to states beginning with a Tuesday clash at (6) Neshaminy.

(4) North Penn 10, (12) Coatesville 0, 5 innings – Amanda Volpe hurled a one-hit shutout with six strikeouts and the Maidens put things away with six runs in the fifth inning en route to the District 1-6A quarterfinal win.
Maggie Kane had the lone hit for the Red Raiders, who will need two wins in the consolation bracket beginning with a Tuesday matchup at (8) Conestoga on the road.
