Downingtown East’s Dickson nets another berth in district singles final (full bracket)

SPRINGFIELD – Top seeded and two-time defending District 1-AAA singles champion Michael Dickson of Downingtown East advanced to the district finals yet again with a pair of wins Saturday at the Healthplex.

Dickson, who captured the state singles title last season as a junior and is a four-time Ches-Mont League National Division singles champion, topped Dan Kliebham of Council Rock North 6-4, 6-0 in the semifinals after ousting Radnor’s Max Safianov 6-3, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

Up next for Dickson in the May 13 final at the Healthplex is No. 2 seed Matt Robinson of Lower Merion. Robinson got to the final with victories over Unionville’s Tristan Bradley in the quarterfinals (6-2, 6-4) and Aces’ teammate Matt Chen in the semis (6-4, 7-6 (9-7). Chen topped Rustin’s Luke Shevlin 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

The fifth-place match May 13 in the district tournament will pit Bradley against Great Valley’s Sameer Gangoli.
