Downingtown East tops Coatesville behind Smuda’s 25; McDonald lifts West Chester East

Downingtown East 61, Coatesville 39 – The Cougars seized control from the jump, racing out to a commanding 33-13 halftime lead and never looking back in recording the Ches-Mont National victory Thursday night.
Bella Smuda led all scorers with 25 points for D-East, countering sophomore Dasani Peoples’ team-high 13 points for the Red Raiders.

West Chester East 48, Avon Grove 37 – Marissa McDonald cashed in 20 points and Megan Merlen chipped in with 11 as the Vikings went wire-to-wire for the Ches-Mont National triumph.
For the Red Devils, who could never overcome deficits of 13-5 in the first quarter and 27-17 at the break, Jamie Perkins hit for 13 points and Chandler Salley added 10.
