Downingtown East no-hit by Spring-Ford’s Larkin in season-ending loss (with boxscore)

ROYERSFORD – Downingtown East ran out of bullets Wednesday afternoon, disarmed by Spring-Ford ace Conor Larkin in a season-ending 3-0 loss in the District 1-6A playback round at Ram Stadium.

Larkin fired his third straight shutout of the postseason, topping the previous two gems with a complete-game, no-hitter that featured 10 strikeouts against two walks.

Cougars hurler Will Peiffer matched Larkin zero for zero and also carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Larkin’s lead-off double, Nick Brauer’s sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch plated courtesy runner Jake Skrocki for a 1-0 lead.

Ryne Moore’s two-run homer later in the frame capped the scoring for the Rams (20-5), who move on to face (2) Hatboro-Horsham Thursday at Villanova’s Ballpark at Plymouth in the district’s fifth-place game with a state playoff berth hanging in the balance.

Peiffer notched the complete game with 99 pitches, allowing two hits, three earned runs and seven walks against six strikeouts. Downingtown East finishes at 13-9.
