Dodds, Angelo, Ford power Shanahan to district final

(2) Bishop Shanahan 61, (3) Chester 47 – Kevin Dodds stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points (10-13 FG), 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks as the Ches-Mont League champion Eagles (22-4) reached the District 1-5A finals for the first time in program history behind a strong fourth quarter Wednesday night at Temple University’s Liacouras Center.

Shanahan held the Clippers (18-7) to 13 percent (2-15) shooting and forced six turnovers in the final frame during a closing 18-5 run to pull away from a narrow 43-42 lead.

David Angelo cashed 15 points with 3 treys and Thomas Ford added 11 for the Eagles, who face top-seeded and defending 5A champion Penncrest for the district crown Saturday (2 pm) at Temple. Penncrest advanced by edging (4) Wissahickon 45-40 Wednesday.
