District wrap: Canterino leads Downingtown East; Rustin, Unionville move on

(10) Downingtown East 5, (23) Oxford 0 –  Olivia Canterino deposited two goals, Paige Wolfe, Caroline Webb and Siena Urbanski added one goal and one assist apiece and the Cougars’ defense – triggered by the strong play of Sarah Parks, Isi Schweiger and goaltenders Ava Irwin and Lil Hisey – did the rest in the opening round win for D-East in the District 1-3A playoffs Monday.
D-East moves on to a second-round clash at (7) Conestoga Wednesday (6 pm).
D-East: Canterino 2g; Wolfe 1g, 1a; Webb 1g, 1a; Urbanski 1g, 1a
 
(16) Rustin 3, (17) Kennett 0 – The Golden Knights took the district opener behind Blaise Cugini’s two goals, Meg Hadfield’s 15 saves and Lexi Haws’ solid play at the defensive end. Rustin will travel to top seed Central Bucks East for a second-round game Wednesday. Claire Borman finished with 11 saves for Kennett.

(22) Unionville 2, (11) Garnet Valley 0 – Maddy Miles had one goal and one assist and goalie Kelsey Hildenbrand came up with 13 saves and the shutout as the Indians moved on to a second-round district clash Wednesday (7 pm) at No. 6 Downingtown West, which drew a first-round bye. D-West topped Unionville 6-0 during the regular season.
