District girls lax: Garvey, Close propel Unionville by Henderson; Downingtown East rolls behind Wurzel

(3) Unionville 17, (14) Henderson 5 – Erin Garvey cashed in four goals and four assists and Hannah Close added a hat trick with one helper to lead the Indians past the Warriors in the second round of the District 1-AAA playoffs Thursday.
Mauria Blair, Mina Scott, Emma Malone and Claire Donovan added two goals apiece for Unionville (17-1), which advances to a quarterfinal clash at home Saturday (time TBA) with Ches-Mont League foe (11) Dowiningtown West – a 9-6 winner over (6) Plymouth Whitemarsh Thursday.
For the Warriors, who finish the season 13-6, Jordyn Bauer and Lilly Siskind led the way with two goals each.

Emily Wurzel scored four goals while Leah Hunter and Livi Lawton added hat tricks for D-East (15-4), which faces (2) Springfield (Delco) in the district quarterfinals Saturday on the road. Springfield moved on with a narrow 11-10 triumph over (18) Conestoga Thursday.

D-West used a 5-2 edge in the second half to advance to a quarterfinal game with Unionville Saturday.
