D-West’s Devlin takes gold, Unionville’s Juul finishes 3rd at states

HERSHEY – Downingtown West senior Aislinn Devlin capped her illustrious cross country career with a gold-medal finish at the PIAA Class AAA championships with a clocking of 17:44 on the hilly Hershey Parkview Course.

The District 1 and Ches-Mont League champion hit the tape 2 seconds ahead of North Allegheny’s Clara Savchick while Unionville senior Anna Juul followed up her silver at districts with a bronze at states in 18:11.

Other top 50 finishers from the Ches-Mont League girls included Unionville sophomore Madison McGovern (23rd, 19:30), Downingtown West senior Emma Planck (28th, 19:24), Henderson sophomore Courtney Kitchen (39th, 19:41) and Downingtown East senior Maddy vanBlunk (42nd, 19:46).

In the team standings, Unionville placed sixth (197 points) and D-West finished seventh (206) behind top three finishers Cardinal O’Hara (107), Oakland Catholic (146) and District One champion Perkiomen Valley (164).

Other top 100 finishers from the Ches-Mont included: 54. Sammie Miller, Coatesville, So., 19:56; 60. Lexi vanBlunk, D-East, Sr., 20:03; 71. Allyson Clarke, WCE, Fr., 20:09; 86. Jillian Brislin, Unionville, Sr., 20:17.
