Coatesville’s Dellicompagni, Stephens earn gold medals at Donegal

MOUNT JOY – Coatesville’s Ryan Dellicompagni and Chase Stephens capped impressive runs with gold medals to help the Red Raiders place fifth overall in the 24-team field at the two-day Donegal Invitational Sunday.

In the championship finals, Dellicompagni notched a 16-2 major decision over Anthony Rini (Camp Hill) at 132 while Stephens pinned Daniel Wanner (Pequea Valley) in 4:26 to bring home the gold at 152. Stephens is 7-0 in the early going with 6 falls.

Also for the Red Raiders, Sean McBride (182) pinned Matt Loiseau (Penn Manor) in 2:45 in the consolation round finals for the bronze medal while Michael Moses (106) and Colin McBride (160) placed sixth.

Kennett finished in a tie for seventh at Donegal behind silver-medalists Logan Reigel (113) and Drew Massetti (126), Reigel dropped a 7-0 decision to Bronson Garber (Upper Dauphin) and Massetti fell 3-1 to Joe Lobeck (Lancaster Catholic) in the championship finals.

Kennett’s Mary Nichols (106) dropped a 4-2 decision to Nick Fafel (Penn Manor) in the consolation finals to place fourth. Earning fifth-place medals for the Blue Demons were Gerhardt Reiter (120), Jake Anderson (138) and Tyler LaCosta (160) while Bryan Casteneda (220) placed seventh. 

In the team standings at Donegal, Penn Manor (168 points) was first followed by JP McCaskey (144.5), Camp Hill (134), Garden Spot (130.5), Coatesville (128), East Stroudsburg (123), Kennett (121.5) and Notre Dame-Green Pond (121.5).
