Coatesville rallies by Oxford; Shanahan’s Miller hurls another no-hitter

Coatesville 6, Oxford 5 – The Red Raiders (12-6, 13-6) used a bases-loaded walk to Phoebe Clemens and a sacrifice fly by Ella Vetter to push across two runs in the top of the seventh inning in recording the Ches-Mont League crossover victory Monday.
Vetter finished with three hits while Clemens, winning pitcher McKenna Sherman and Payton Landis had two hits apiece for Coatesville.
For the Hornets, Gianna Coyle (triple), Alexis Pearson and Natalie Oliver picked up three hits each.

Bishop Shanahan 10, Henderson 0, 5 innings – Devon Miller fired her second no-hitter in a span of seven days, striking out 11 and walking two, and the Eagles brought on the mercy rule with six runs in the home fifth to notch the Ches-Mont National victory.
Miller and Katy Newton keyed the Shanahan attack with three RBI apiece and a combined five hits, including a home run by Miller.

Jess Gomez went the distance in the circle for WC East, which used a three-run burst in the sixth inning to build an 8-4 lead that provided enough insurance to withstand a two-run Cougars’ rally in the top of the seventh.

Hannah Slicer was outstanding in defeat for the Blue Demons, going the distance in the circle, allowing three hits and striking out five.

Rustin got multiple hits from Mallory Hardwick, winning pitcher Nicole McCarthy, Madison Fife, Hope Geissler, Nicole Inforzato, Sami LaRosa and Elena Ciarrochi in the win.
