Coatesville girls, boys have strong showing at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Coatesville had a strong showing Friday at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field.

The Red Raiders’ girls finished second in the Northeast 4×100, the quartet of Jordyn Worthington, Porsha Miles, Sammie Miller and Arianna Eberly clocking in at 48.17, just behind gold medalist Rush-Henrietta’s (NY) winning time of 47.91.

On the boys side, Coatesville’s 4×100 relay team of Roland Miles, Erik Kirk, Dymere Miller and Artie Burgess qualified for Saturday’s Northeast 4×100 final with a time of 43.06 – the sixth best clocking in the preliminary heats. Also for the Red Raiders, Ricky Ortega placed eighth in the High School Boys Javelin championship with a toss of 183 feet, 10 inches.

Henderson’s 4×100 relay team of Colin Leonard, Robert Grove, Aaron Newell and Kavond Jones also had a solid effort (43.76) in their qualifying heat.
