Coatesville boys earn gold; West Chester East strong at PTFCA Carnival

Coatesville’s 4×200-meter relay team of Lebron Bessick, Artie Burgess, Eric Kirk and C.J. Brown clocked in at 1:31.89 to earn the gold medal at the TFCAGP Last Chance Meet at Lehigh University Friday to qualify for the upcoming Indoor PA Meet of Champions.
Also qualifying for the state Meet of Champions for Coatesville were Jahmir Carter (2nd in triple jump, 43-4), Ricky Ortega (60 dash, 7.33) and Carter (400, 53.64). The Red Raiders’ 4×400 relay team of Brown, Burgess, Kirk and Bessick rounded out the strong showing with a fourth place finish (3:35.14), 
Other top Ches-Mont performers at the Last Chance Meet included Bishop Shanahan’s Ryan Doherty (fourth, 800, 2:00.67), Downingtown West’s Ben Datte (fourth, 3,000, 9:23.31), John Salt (fourth, long jump, 20-0.5) and the Whippets’ 4×200 relay team (fourth, 1:33.86)
 
PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival
West Chester East had a strong showing at the PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival at Lehigh University Saturday, led by a second-place finish from Joshua Lewis in the 2-mile run (4:25.33).
Also for the Vikings, Charlie Webb finished third in the 60 hurdles (8.48) and the 4×800 relay team placed fifth (8:23.43). Avon Grove’s Jeffrey Billig rounded out the Ches-Mont place winners with a fifth in the 200 (23.22).
In the girls’ portion of the meet, West Chester East’s Allyson Clarke was fourth in the 3,000 (10:29.49), the Vikings’ distance medley relay team took fourth in 12:56.86 and Rustin’s Izzy Okcuoglu was fifth in the pole vault (10-0).
 
8th Annual Shot Put Night in the Valley
Zhayria Washington of Rustin placed second with a toss of 34-9.75 in the girls competition at the mullti-school event at Perkiomen Valley Thursday while teammate Bradley Pedone was 11th (37-1.75) in the boys field. The host Vikings had both individual winners in Dorian Philpot (38-1.5) and Jason Wagner (51-1).
